New here, based down on the Isle of Wight.
I was looking for a kit car to build but having seen (and ridden in :D ) General's Sandrail I got right onto ebay and bought me a shiny Yellow Fugitive, no MOT and a non runner but mine (well mine and the daughter's). I could not find a trailer locally to borrow/rent so I had to buy one on the mainland on the way to pick up the car.

First job is to get it running so I can get it off the trailer up my steep drive into the garage. Freshly picked up:

Hi Paul, welcome to the club. I'm sure we can get it running and then sort those front mud guards so you can enjoy the summer.

Thanks all.
[evil_laugh] Today South Wight, tomorrow THE WORLD [/evil_laugh]

Lots of new enginey bits on it for a non runner... got my doubts about some of the install (eg must of got bored before putting the clamps on the fuel pump pipes or cleaning the green off the HT lead ends) - but will know more when I get to try and start her up.

Anyway now I know what a beetle engine looks like, never having seen one before!

You can have a good look over it once it's holding the door open and you're putting a proper engine in ;)

Oh yes as soon as summer has gone (hopefully it will be working and MOT'd before then!). I think a Subaru EJXX is high on the list. I would like to swap out the gearbox too, maybe a UN5 if the hook up is not too difficult (Ok, I mean expensive)? Andy AKA The General has some ideas on that!

First challenge turned the key and hear click from the auto choke (I think) but nothing from the starter. Juice in battery and 12V on spade connector,E seems OK, starter spins with a direct short across big terminals so either a) solenoid is shot or b) it has been removed and re-installed upside down... Anyway it's on the bench for a look see.

- Car is 2 miles away at work as without it running I can't get it up the steep drive to the garage!

Nah, UN5 ain't too bad, starter motor and output adaptors are the worst of it. We had ours in over a weekend the first time around.
