Looking good Paul. Hope you get your wiring sorted soon. Let us know if you need a hand mate.

Thanks!
It all seems to be alive just no feed to starter. AFAIK that is likely clutch interlock or starter relay earth. If I could find the starter relay that would help

So contrary to every wiring diagram ... except the Haynes one that was correct  the immobiliser does control the starter motor on the UK late Mk2.5s as I found out from tracing the relay. Then I found out that the 2 wires by the ignition barrel were not the "key left in alarm" but the immobiliser chip reader and 10 minutes after I found that out.... It's ALIVE!

Great news mate. Well done! Just need to bundle the rest of the loom in a water proof box and put the seats back in.

Went from this

Few bits left over

Had a stressful few hours when it would not run - found a more accurate wiring diagram and realised I had managed to not install an earth for the main relay coil!

Running fine after I hooked up the speed sensor. Not even directly connected to the ECU but gets shirty if it is not there. Going to be a sod to get it to work if the ECU needs it to run properly...

A bit of lateral thinking re the speedo (the MX5 VSS is gearbox driven) I can use the ABS sensor off the 944 back end as the sensors/ring came with it - that is a VR type sensor. Then I think I can use one of these http://www.dakotadigital.com/index....c ... prd126.htm to make it output 8000 pulse/mile based on the wheel diameter, then feed that into the instrument cluster, give it a really hot cup of tea and I should have both speedo and ECU input.
